1. Role: Landscape & Visual Assessment Professional

Landscape & Visual Assessment Professional

MKO is seeking to recruit a Landscape & Visual Assessment Professional to join the company’s Environmental team. The successful candidate will be working on projects in the wind energy, solar energy, industrial and infrastructure sectors, and a broad range of experience on large-scale projects in these sectors is preferable.

The key responsibilities associated with the role will be:

  • Landscape Character Assessments
  • Landscape & Visual Assessment chapter for Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR) for projects at a variety of scales.
  • Landscape & Visual Assessment Reports to accompany planning applications for various types and scales of projects
  • Carrying out site visits, fieldwork and photography to inform LVIAs
  • Report writing and assisting with inputs for Landscape and Visual Assessment reports
  • Landscape Design, Restoration Plans etc.

The key requirements of the post will be:

  • A third-level qualification in Landscape Planning, Landscape Architecture, or related fields that give the candidate the necessary skills to complete the role;
  • Experience in fulfilling similar functions or in a similar role;
  • An understanding of the Irish planning system;
  • Good working knowledge of CAD, Photoshop and GIS. Knowledge of MapInfo or Arc GIS would also be an advantage.
  • Excellent presentation and report writing skills and attention to detail
  • A confident and creative approach to the assessment process.
  • A collaborative and flexible approach to the role with ambition to excel and grow within the company.

2. Role: Senior Environmental Consultant

Senior Environmental Consultant

The company employs over 55 people and provides an extensive range of specialist services in the fields of planning, ecology, ornithology, EIAR’s and environmental management. The company is seeking to recruit a Senior Environmental Consultant to meet the continued strong demand for the company’s services. The successful candidate will be working on EIAR projects in the wind energy, renewables, waste-to-energy, manufacturing and infrastructure sectors, and a broad range of experience on large-scale projects in these sectors is a minimum requirement.

The key responsibilities associated with the role will be:

  • Manage and oversee projects run by the company’s Environmental Team day-to-day, including fee agreements, invoicing, and delivering on client expectations;
  • Oversee, guide and manage junior team members and sub-consultants to deliver project requirements;
  • Take ownership of projects from inception to completion (including project profitability) and provide regular project updates to the Environmental Team director and clients;
  • Report to Environmental Team director on project performance;
  • Prioritise projects while balancing client expectations, available staff resources and project deadlines;
  • Manage and implement business development initiatives for team;
  • Win new work by preparing and overseeing the preparation of fee proposals, identifying opportunities in the marketplace and ensuring a steady work flow.

The key requirements of the post will be:

  • A third-level qualification in environmental science, environmental engineering, or related fields that give the candidate the necessary skills to complete role;
  • A minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience in fulfilling similar functions or in a similar role;
  • An excellent understanding of the Irish planning system;
  • Broad range of large-scale project experience at EIAR/Planning/Construction stage;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of civil engineering, construction management, ecology, hydrology/hydrogeology, noise, air, traffic, geotechnical and other EIAR subject areas and the interrelationships between them.

ENSP’s EMiLA Fellowship 2019

The European Master in Landscape Architecture’sFellowship from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Paysage

The EMiLA fellowship at ENSP Versailles and Marseille is awarded annually to an emerging designer or confirmed landscape architect, whose work articulates the potential for landscape as a medium of design in the public realm in the frame of anticipatory transformations at territorial and urban scale. The position is a one-year position at half time. The teaching is in English.

EMiLA team:

EMiLA is a Master degree run by five leading European schools and universities:

- Amsterdam University of the Arts / Amsterdam Academy of Architecture (AHK)

- Universitat Polytècnica de Catalunya (UPC)/ Escola Tècnica Superior

d’Arquitectura (ETSAB)/ Escola Superior d’Agricultura de Barcelona (ESAB)

- The University of Edinburgh/Edinburgh College of Art (ECA)/The Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA)

- Leibniz Universität Hannover (LUH)/ Fakultät für Architektur und Landschaft

- Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Paysage Versailles/ Marseille (ENSP)

The EMiLA fellow will be appointed:

- Lecturer in Landscape Architecture at ENSP on the site of Versailles for the academic year 2019-2020.

- It is apart time position. The position can be negotiated to be a full-time position during a semester

-we offer a residence at the Potager du Roi.

- The candidate is expected to be in residence from September 9th, 2019 through June2020, or if half time from September 9th,2019 to January 30rd,2020. The candidate taking part in the EMiLA summer school should be free from 23rd of August to 30th of August and join the team in one of the EMiLA schools/universities. In 2019, the Summer school is run by LUH Hannover.

- The candidate receives a French salary: depending on the candidate’s curriculum this can vary from an annual net salary of 10 800€ to 15000€.

The Selection Process:

A jury composed of leading figures from the EMiLA partner schools and Ecole nationale supérieure de paysage will select the 2019-20 Fellow. The two-stage competition process will identify a short-list of three finalists who will be invited to interviews with the competition jury. The jury will recommend a winner to be announced publicly in late spring 2019.A selected candidate can summit up to three times this application.
