URBANSCAPES 2019 conference organised by the Czech Association for Landscape Architecture (CZALA), took place on 9–10 October 2019 in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

URBANSCAPES 2019 conference organised by the Czech Association for Landscape Architecture (CZALA), took place on 9–10 October 2019 in Ostrava, Czech Republic. The programme addressed topics that wereof common interest to all of us: urban landscapes, water, vegetation, and brings together professionals from Czech Republic and all over Europe. Conference key themes are:

  • The next landscape as our daily living environment, health, quality of life
  • Perception and impact of the public space
  • Multidisciplinarity, regional and cross border cooperation
  • River landscape transformation as a basis for city change
  • Potentials of urban jungle in mitigation of the climate change impact
  • Climate change and the city – heat islands, rain water management, pollution reducing
  • Blue and green infrastructure as a base of urban planning.

The Conference tackled challenges associated with industrial city areas re-development: What is the liveable industrial city landscape of the future? What are the opportunities and threads? What are the driving forces behind the changes in our landscape? What are the benefits of landscape led solutions with integrated and holistic approach to industrial urbanscapes? The conference languages are Czech and English (simultaneous Czech/English translation will be provided). The conference takes part under auspices of IFLA Europe.
