The Slovenian Association of Landscape Architects (SALA) is a professional association of landscape architects and other professionals who deal with spatial management in its widest sense and with protection of the environment. This includes spatial planning, landscape planning and landscape design. Basic principles that guide our work are a holistic approach when dealing with an issue, interdisciplinarity, the taking into account of environmental, social and economic points of view of development and protection, transparency and searching for spatial solutions in co-operation with various public entities.

The Association was established in 1992 and has remained rather small, counting slightly over 100 members. The organisational structure of the Association comprises a president, a Management Board, an Assembly, a Steering Committee and a Professional Court of Arbitration. Members approve work done and adopt any future work programme. The election of representatives to the Association bodies takes place once every two years. Members shall respect the Code of Conduct.In the short history of the Association, members, and especially hard working ones of the Management Board, have organised a plethora of national and international conferences, always completed by thematic reports. In spite of being a small social group, their reactions to spatial and social changes affecting landscapes are significant and creative, critical and sometimes polemical. In so doing, the Association collaborates with similar organisations in the search of effective ways of intervention in the practice of planning and in everyday life.

The Association has played a significant role in the processes of adoption of spatial, building, environmental and other sectoral legislation, and has actively co-operated with similar associations and with the Chamber for Architecture and Spatial Planning of Slovenia.Through their successful participation in many competitions, publishing activities and popularisation of the profession, members have helped promote landscape architecture in Slovenia. They are active outside Slovenia too, and their works were awarded many prominent prizes.

The Icelandic Landscape Architects Association (FÍLA) was founded in Reykjavik on February 24, 1978. In FÍLA there are over 80 members all over the country. Members work in a broad field of design, planning and management in both urban and rural areas. Landscape architects are experts in preserving nature and cultural landscapes, making man-made environments in urban and rural areas ecological, economical and beautiful - without compromising on natural quality.

The company’s objectives are:

- to promote the development of landscape and garden architecture;

- to work on sensible land use and development of the area;

- to safeguard the preservation of natural and cultural assets;

- to protect the interests of its members and to promote good cooperation and promotion.

Landscape Architecture is a 5-year university program that concludes with a master’s degree in recognised universities and is a regulated profession in this country. Recognised studies in landscape architecture need to apply abroad, and Icelandic landscape architects have applied for education, among other things. to Norway, Sweden, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Germany. To obtain the right to use the term landscape architect, you must apply to the Ministry of Resource and Innovation, which is seeking comment from the Icelandic Landscape Architects Association.

The ILI was formed in 1992 from an amalgamation of the Irish Chapter of the Institute of Landscape Architects and the Institute of Landscape Horticulture of Ireland. This, in effect, joined private practice and public sector members, enabling them to further develop the landscape profession in Ireland.

Since 1992, the Institute has expanded to its current membership of 160, mirroring the rise in profile and strength of the landscape architecture profession in Ireland.

Conferences have been held regularly since the early 1990’s which stimulated debate about the profession’s position and facilitated the ongoing growth of member’s expertise. The Biannual awards ceremony highlights and rewards the achievements of the Institute’s members. The institute has also made submissions on a number of national policy documents, facilitated the continuing Professional Development of its members and hosted regular social events.

The ÖGLA also has a social mission and assumes responsibility for the communication and exchange of knowledge and information about the content of landscape architecture (as a collective term for all aspects of the profession). In addition to its role as a professional association, the importance of the association lies in its role as an information, knowledge and discussion platform. The ÖGLA is a lively association that stands for the exchange of experiences, partnerships, networks and contacts. In addition to the relevance for members, the association should also be available to all interested parties as an information platform. The communication methods are up-to-date, event-related, tailored to target groups and barrier-free.

The Netherlands Association for Landscape Architecture (NVTL) promotes and fosters high quality garden and landscape architecture in the Netherlands. We represent the interests of the profession in many areas of public life, stimulate the further development of the profession and bring clients into contact with qualified landscape architects.

The NVTL is an open association that warmly welcomes all those with a keen interest in landscape architecture. With more than 800 members, the NVTL represents a broad spectrum of Dutch professional practice. This makes the Association the obvious platform for professional development and promoting the cause of garden and landscape architecture in the Netherlands in its broadest sense.

Mission statement

The mission of the NVTL is to create more attractive and functional living and working environments. We do this in cooperation with other spatial development and environmental disciplines.. As landscape architects we provide an independent and professional service and take our social and ethical responsibilities seriously.

The NVTL provides its members with a platform for the dissemination of ideas, exchange of knowledge and reflection on professional practice, as well as opportunities to expand
professional networks. In addition, the Association stimulates dialogue between its members in teaching, research and practice, enabling them to enrich each
other’s work and further improve professional standards.

The Association represents the interests of its members across society and is the primary source of information on and first point of contact with the profession. The NVTL aims for widespread recognition of the profession within Dutch society; we want to increase awareness of the specific qualities we have to offer and raise the profile of the profession.

Main objectives:

  • Promoting the profession
  • Providing professional support to our members
  • Maintaining the quality of professional practice

The Association of Danish Landscape Architects (DL) is an association of interests with influence in a number of professional organisations, ministries and grassroots associations. We actively participate in the political debate, where we work to make our work as landscape architects more visible. We create a framework for networks and activities that enhance your professional development.

We currently have about 800 members, of which 200 are students. Everyone must use the title ‘landscape architect’. But only graduated landscape architects with a membership at DL may add meddle to its title.

Members of the association fill various positions; municipal or state, project planning or in operation and management. The workplaces include private drawing rooms, administrations, cemeteries, housing companies and in teaching or research.

Danish Landscape Architects takes care of the members’ professional interests, regardless of the work of the landscape architect.

We cooperate with Landscape Architects’ Association under JA, Danish association of rachitectural firms, the Park and Nature Managers, the Association of Architects and Designers, Danish gardening entreprises, The Danish Association of Architects, The Danish Town Planning Institute and Danish Lighting Center. The collaboration contributes to an individual and shared strength, and the diversity of professionalism increases.

We are part of the joint Nordic ‘Nordic Board’; a forum for Scandinavian landscape architectural associations. Outside the Nordic region, the association participates in international cooperation with other related associations such as the International Federation of Landscape Architects EUROPE/IFLA”

The French Landscape Federation (FFP) is the only organisation representing the profession of landscape designer. It now has more than 650 members, almost one in three professionals. The Federation area of interest is not only the debates on the landscape but also promotion of the profession of landscape designer.

Its structure is capable of taking into account all changes in terms of qualification, training, ethics and professional conduct, development. It is structured like a professional organisation bringing together natural and legal persons.

Promotion and development of landscape as part of life

Both at national and international level, the Federation raises awareness about the specificity of the landscape and the interest of taking it into account for the community as well as the studies, projects and practices that contribute to its quality.

  • It is intended to bring together all landscape designers whether they are surveyors, project managers, project owners, managers in a representative structure or employees,

    formations, who request it, regime, tax, insurance, contracts ...), private commission, the prospection of the markets in France and abroad, administrative or institutional bodies,

- It can empower through an official jury, landscape architects, from unrecognized formations, who request it,

- It studies all questions relating to the exercise of the profession (installation, legal regime, tax, insurance, contracts ...),

- It defends the general interests of its members, in particular at the level of the public or private commission, the prospective of the markets in France and abroad

- It intervenes with the public authorities for the representation of the profession in all administrative or institutional bodies

- It provides practical information to its members and maintains links of solidarity through a network of ten regional associations

A regional, national, European and international network

The main advantage of the FFP lies in the constitution of a network that it has developed and preserved for the benefit of all regions.

  • At the regional level

The FFP brings together 10 regional associations that contribute to the national representation of the profession. These regional associations ensure that the landscape is taken into account at the level of the local authorities and constantly assist the project management in its relations with the profession (participation in competition juries for example). All FFP members are ex-officio members of their regional association.

  • On a national level

The FFP, through its Bureau in particular, is the interlocutor of the public authorities on matters relating to the professional practice of landscape designers but also on the development of regulatory texts relating to the landscape. The FFP meets regularly with representatives of the Ministries of Ecology and Sustainable Development,
Equipment, Housing and Transport, Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Rural Affairs, Culture and Tourism. of communication.

  • At the European level

The FFP is a member of IFLA EUROPE (International Federation of Landscape Architects, Europe Region). This association brings together the member countries of the Council of Europe. The main objective is the harmonization and recognition of the profession of landscape architect (landscape designer in France) by the European Commission. Through this organization, the FFP has the opportunity to increase its contacts with representatives of the 42 member countries of the Council of Europe and the 27 member countries of the European Union. Landscape students are invited to consult the websites of European partners to find internships and work in Europe. IFLA EUROPE

  • At an international level

The FFP and all its members are members of IFLA.
