The renaissance of the countryside

In Europe and therefore also in the Netherlands, the population moves to the city. The small, peripheral municipalities will continue to shrink, and some parts of the countryside will become empty. On the other hand, we need space for one million new homes, 37,000 hectares of forest, solar fields and windmills for the energy transition, distribution centers, data centers, new roads and railway lines. These are all examples of new developments that require space in the open landscape at the expense of agricultural land. At the same time, a
transformation is taking place in which agriculture itself must become more circular. Therefore, we find ourselves on the thrilling eve of the renaissance of the countryside
