20th anniversary of European Landscape Convention “Landscape integration in sectoral policies” Lausanne, Switzerland, 19-20 October 2020
The 23rd Council of Europe Meeting of the Workshops for the implementation of the European Landscape Convention and Celebration at High Level of the 20th Anniversary of the European Landscape Convention on “Landscape integration in sectoral policies” are being organised in Lausanne, Switzerland on 19-20 October 2020, by the Council of Europe – Secretariat of the Convention, Directorate of Democratic Participation – in co-operation with the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) and the collaboration of the Canton of Vaud and the City of Lausanne, within the framework of the Work Programme of the Convention.
Objectives
The Meeting of the Workshops on “Landscape integration in sectoral policies” aims to present experiences of public policies adopted, or being developed, concerning the implementation of Article 5 d. of the European Landscape Convention on “General measures”, according to which each Party undertakes “to integrate landscape into its regional and town planning policies and in its cultural, environmental, agricultural, social and economic policies, as well as in any other policies with possible direct or indirect impact on
landscape”.
The Celebration of the Twentieth Anniversary of the European Landscape Convention, organised at high level, will focus on the importance of integrating landscape in sectoral policies. A draft political Declaration on this subject will be presented.
The results of these events will be presented to the 11th Official Council of Europe Conference on the European Landscape Convention (2021, Palais de l’Europe, Strasbourg), and at the Meeting of the Council of Europe Steering Committee for Culture, Heritage and Landscape (CDCPP).
IFLA Europe as participating INGO of the Council of Europe will be represented by Michael Oldham our Honorary Member, Council of Europe Working Group member and founding President of EFLA - European Foundation for Landscape Architecture.
Participants
The Meeting is aimed at government officers – members of the Council of Europe Steering Committee for Culture, Heritage and Landscape (CDCPP), of the Council of Europe Conference on the European Landscape Convention, and representatives of other ministries –, representatives of local and regional authorities, professionals, academics, representatives of governmental and non-governmental organisations, and other persons, working in the fields of landscape and sustainable development, with its environmental, cultural, social and economic dimensions.
