AsoP Romania Annual Conference {bio}Diversity of Landscapes, 17-18 November 2022

The Romanian Landscape Association – AsoP organized its fifth annual conference on November 17-18, 2022, together with the partners: USAMV Cluj-Napoca, the Faculty of Horticulture and Business in Rural Development, the Society of Horticulture and Forestry in Transylvania (SHST), with the support of ENEL and E-Distributie companies.

The theme of the conference was the integration of biodiversity in the process of landscape planning and design. The way urban and rural landscapes are restored and
developed depends directly on the actions of those involved. The loss of biodiversity is obvious and directly proportional to the expansion of the built environment, which is reflected in a negative influence on the quality of life. A strategic landscape biodiversity planning system can set future directions that minimize the negative impact of the built environment on green components. The ultimate goal of this approach is to guide the conservation, restoration and enhancement of urban and rural landscapes.

Through the topic addressed, the purpose of the conference is to provide a coherent picture of the importance of landscape modeling in the context of biodiversity improvement/conservation, to exchange conceptual ideas and results of the theoretical and practical applications.

The program of the AsoP Romania 2022 Conference includes a session of communications/presentations/case studies of projects carried out by specialists from Romania and abroad; debates; workshop; examples of good practices /field visits – projects in implementation/projects in preparation.

Biodiversity is not only the prerogative of the rural landscape, it is often very well represented and present in urban areas. Biodiversity issues require regulation and action by local and regional authorities. Thus, the conference integrates points of view of representatives of the administrations of Transylvanian cities.

The AsoP Romania 2022 conference is addressed to professionals in the field, students and teachers, representatives of local and central public administrations, but also to all those interested in the field of landscape architecture and related fields.

The event took place within the USAMV Cluj-Napoca Campus, the Faculty of Horticulture and Business in Rural Development, the Society of Horticulture and Forestry in Transylvania (SHST), the Blue Amphitheater, 2nd floor.
