AsoP - Romanian Landscape Architects Association 2021 Conference “Trees here and now” on 8-9 December 2021!
The Romanian Landscape Architects Association - AsoP organized on 8 and 9 December 2021 its 4th annual meeting in collaboration with the IFLA EUROPE - International Federation of Landscape Architects and the Romanian Arboriculture Association - ARA, with the support of Urban Landscapes Romania - ULR and ENEL & E-Distributie Companies.
Following the central theme of the IFLA Europe 2021 General Assembly and AEP Spain International Congress - Landscape Here and Now, this year’s event of AsoP
Romania tackled the topic of amenity tree as a determining factor in the quality of the urban environment in which we live today.
The activities embedded by AsoP 2021 Conference - Trees here and now aimed to identify both specific problems and examples of good practice regarding the use of trees in cities. Katerina Gkoltsiou - IFLA Europe President and the Med_net Working Group opened the first day of the conference, revealing the activity envisioned for the next period at European level in order to design change regarding the trees within urban environment. IFLA Europe’s intervention was followed by presentations made by renowned services and products providers in relation with the voyage of trees nurseries to the implementation phase (Van den Berk NL), regarding innovative planting solutions for the insertion of trees within harsh urban environment conditions (GreenBlue Urban UK) and about instruments and methods for amenity trees inventory and maintenance (PlanIT Geo US).
The second day of conference concentrated on the Romanian context and has been started with the presentation held by the Romanian Arboriculture Association – ARA. The conference ended with a round table in which representatives of the professional and academic environment from Romania took part. The discussion revealed two main pillar that need to be straightened in order to design change for amenity trees in Romania, respectively: information and education directed toward the general public and a clearer legislative and normative framework.
More details about the conference can be found on AsoP Romania website, including the gross video format of the event (downloadable for each day both in Romanian and in English) and the visual aids received from the speakers.
