“George Anagnostopoulos” award 2022

Panhellenic Association of Landscape Architects, “George Anagnostopoulos” award
The Panhellenic Association of Landscape Architects on the celebration of its 40 years anniversary, has created an honorable/price award to honor its founder, George Anagnostopoulos.The award is awarded each year to two students for best atomic project completion, one student from the MLA of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and one student from the MLA of the Agricultural University of Athens, in an attempt to connect PHALA with the academic programs of Landscape Architecture in Greece. Each student is awarded with the amount of 500 euro for his/her exemplary work and the Panagiotis and Efi Michelis Foundation grants the amount of 300 euro for each award.
Discussions for the award started during executive board meetings way back in 2018, but the award was eventually founded in autumn 2020, under the presidency of Katerina Gkoltsiou and it has been awarded for two consecutive years, 2021 and 2023.
A few words on George L. Anagnostopoulos
George L. Anagnostopoulos (1927-2018) was an architect, landscape architect and was one of the first people to introduce Landscape Architecture in Greece. He practiced landscape planning and design in Greece and aboard via his office for 45 years (1960-2005), collaborating with internationally acclaimed landscape architects and architects. He founded PHALA in 1980 and was the Association’s first President for many years (1980-2001). He was also member of EFLA and served as its Vice President - Central Region from 1988 to 1992 and as its President from 1992 to 1996.
