Joint workshop European Council of Spatial Planners &  Horizon 2020A NEW POWERFUL TOOL TO SUPPORT SPATIAL PLANNING RELATED WITH LAND TAKESPATIAL PLANNING RELATED WITH LA

In the framework of the HORIZON 2020 LAND SUPPORT project, an innovative system was developed to challenge land take throughout the entire EU territory. It is an advanced System (GeoSpatial Cyber infrastructure) designed to support decision making in the field of spatial planning, agriculture, and environmental conservation. The platform is freely accessible through the web.

Among the many available tools, the Land Take tool is available for the entire EU territory at high resolution spatial scale, and it is composed of three sections, respectively:
1. Geo spatial knowledge, containing tools that allow users to perform on-the fly a large
set of analysis including metrics of urban sprawl and maps of rural fragmentation.
2. Monitoring: this tool performs multi temporal analysis of land take in all EU
municipalities.
3. Planning: this tool supports the planning of new green corridors or on the contrary
a new urban development, quantifying respectively the gain or loss of ecosystem services, through scenario analysis. In such framework, this workshop - organised by ECTP with the Land support team - aims to demonstrate the project and the tools and to discuss the main findings. In addition, the workshop offers (for those interested) an afternoon “hands on” session.
