Romanian GREEN SPACES saved at the last minute - Romanian Landscape Architects Association - AsoP
The President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, is requesting the Romanian Parliament to review the Law no 24/2007 regarding urban green spaces. On October 16, 2020, Romanian Landscape Architects Association - AsoP urged President Klaus Iohannis not to promulgate the new law in the form adopted by the Chamber of Deputies as a decision-making Chamber, on October 13. The new regulation is subject to serious material errors that make the provisions of the law be inapplicable. Such errors consist in the elimination of different types of green spaces from the urban green infrastructure, as it is the case for heritage gardens or pocket parks, and the removal of the annex regulating the percentage of built areas for different categories of green spaces. AsoP’s request was supported by many other organizations, including the Romanian Chamber of Architects and several important Romanian NGOs, as well as by Romanian politicians and public figures and it also received public’s support.
