IFLA Europe is proud to announce networking event as a part of the UN-Habitat World Urban Forum, Katowice, Poland, which will take place on Monday, 27 June 2022, 16.00 - 17.30 CET “Reconnecting with Nature - Landscape architects at the forefront of the sustainable and creative urban transformation”!
IFLA Europe event will take place on Monday, 27 June 2022 as event Event NE 33 at the Multifunction Hall, Room 12
Organized and convened by UN-Habitat since 2001, the World Urban Forum is guided by the New Urban Agenda. UN-Habitat is committed to bringing all stakeholders together in a concerted effort to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. The inclusive nature of the forum, combined with the high-level participation, makes it a unique United Nations conference on urban issues.
The World Urban Forum (WUF) is a prestigious international conference, organized by UN-Habitat for urban growth and human settlements. This is the most important global event concerning municipal policies, transformation and development.
WUF11 arrives at a critical moment. The world is facing multiple crises which are intensifying the rate of urbanization. With an estimated 70 percent of the global population expected to be living in cities by 2050, we need to harness its transformative force. If we are to survive the climate crisis, we need to ensure that urbanization works for all of us and that we leave no place behind.
This year, the theme of the World Urban Forum is Transforming Our Cities for a Better Urban Future. I look forward to a lively debate. Solutions to our current problems – poverty, inequality, environmental degradation, climate change and conflict – will come from city leaders and managers, the private sector, civil society, grassroots organizations and urban thinkers.
WUF11 will feature an opening and closing session, dialogues, roundtables and a series of events hosted and facilitated by UN-Habitat, the Government of Poland and partners. These will set the tone and identify pathways to shareable solutions to transform cities for a better urban future.
The five-day event will conclude with declared actions: recommendations that representatives of government, civil society and private sector take back to their home cities for further discussion and implementation.
Partnership, collaboration and sharing are core to Forum’s interest to be a marketplace of knowledge and solutions: driving cities towards transformation that is inclusive, equitable, green and resilient.
