UCTEA Chamber of Landscape Architects completed 13th PMOGenç - Student Member Commission of UCTEA Chamber of Landscape Architects Summer Camp

PMOGenç (Student Member Commission of UCTEA Chamber of Landscape Architects) Summer Camp, was organized by Chamber of Landscape Architects for the 13th time between 22 August – 3 September 2022 in Hatay Expo 2021 area with the participation of 32 students from 14 universities, with the cooperation of Hatay Metropolitan Municipality and Hatay Expo 2021 General Secretariat, and the support of Adaplant, Bioart and Garden Koala companies.

In the camp, the Mosaic of Existence’s edge, which is located in the Expo Hatay 2021 area and entered the Guinness Book of Records with the title of the world’s second largest mosaic, has been determined as the design area. In the field of design, a rain garden design was carried out, targeting the blue/green infrastructure and the management of the water process, which are among the leading solutions to be produced against the climate crisis and water scarcity, which are among the most important problems of our time. Along with the designed rain garden, the landscape design that will support biodiversity and pollinator organisms was designed by the Landscape Architecture students who attended the camp in an integrated manner with the rain garden.

Also the presentations were organised about rain harvesting, measurements, materials, techniques and methods presentation, the importance and use of water, biological pond systems, natural water purification presentation, sketch workshop and xeric grass plant and zoysia grass presentation were held. In addition to the rain garden design, the camp has been completed efficiently with various talks, workshops, presentations and events. Within the framework of the principles and purposes of our chamber, our students’ activity is aimed to increase awareness and awareness on the importance of water and biodiversity, rain harvesting and blue/green infrastructure, and contribute to their personal development and ability to work together.
