UNISCAPE 2020 CONFERENCE - 20th Anniversary Celebration of the European Landscape Convention, 16 - 17 October 2020, Florence, ITALY
“Cultivating the Continuity of European Landscapes- New Challenges for the ELC”
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the signing of the European Landscape Convention in Florence (20 October 2000), UNISCAPE is organizing a major event with the aim of bringing the landscape dimension to the center of a international debate as a cornerstone of 21st century Europe, combining the participation of representatives and collecting contributions from the scientific community and policy-making institutions.
The event will be shaped as a two-day Conference inspired by the theme : “Cultivating the Continuity of European Landscapes”, with a very diverse programme that will include masterclasses, thematic sessions, roundtables and workshops.
UNISCAPE aims to organize a catalyzing event that will gather together the scientific community of landscape researchers in order to discuss the current state of the European Landscape and to investigate how far the implementation of the ELC has progressed over the last 20 years. Although many goals have been achieved, new challenges are constantly emerging and we need also to define new strategies, visions and tools to tackle future landscape issues.
The Conference will be held in Florence on 16-17 October 2020, just before the official celebration by the Council of Europe on 20 October in Lausanne, Switzerland.
UNISCAPE is reorganizing the conference programme on 16th and 17th October to be held online. The Thematic Sessions, part of the Working Tables and Landscape Ateliers, who are suitable to be adapted into virtual events, will be maintained, others will be postponed for 2021.
