Venice Call to Action: “For a New European Renaissance”
We are proud that our representative Indra Purs, Latvian Delegate and Chairwoman of IFLA Europe New European Bauhaus Working Group represented us and the New European Bauhaus Collective at the European Heritage Policy Agora “From the New European Bauhaus to the New European Renaissance” held on 24 September as the major closing event of our European Cultural Heritage Summit 2021 in Venice.
Europa Nostra - The debate brought together policy makers at all levels of governance and key heritage stakeholders to reflect on the most topical issues for the cultural heritage ecosystem in Europe, including, among others, the European Green Deal and the New European Bauhaus, the role of cultural heritage in the EU’s external relations and the Conference on the future of Europe. It was a unique opportunity to put forward innovative, concrete and bold solutions for a better and more sustainable future together, including, first and foremost, by putting our shared cultural heritage where it belongs – at the very heart of the entire European project.
We are most proud of the results and outcomes of this important event, held under the patronage of the European Parliament, the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU and the Italian Ministry of Culture, and supported by numerous European and Italian partners. The Policy Agora gathered 41 speakers and contributors from 20 different countries in Europe and beyond with the most varied sets of expertise, as well as 300 on-site and online participants. This was made possible thanks to the excellent collaboration with and input by our distinguished speakers, guests and supporters, to which we are extremely grateful.
As a result, Venice Call to Action: “For a New European Renaissance” was presented during the Policy Agora as a concrete outcome of the European Cultural Heritage Summit 2021.
We are convinced that only by joining forces can we build the Europe of tomorrow: a more humane, more beautiful, more sustainable and more inclusive continent based on our shared heritage and values, thus contributing to a New European Renaissance.
