Winners of New European Bauhaus Prizes!

The results of the New European Bauhaus Prizes are in!

“the New European Bauhaus has led to an explosion of creativity of architects, designers, engineers across our Union!”

Out of the 2000 applications received, 60 inspiring projects and ideas were shortlisted after a public vote that was followed by an evaluation by a jury made out of New European Bauhaus official partners.

Finally, the 20 winners were unveiled by European Commissioners Ferreira and Gabriel in a vibrant ceremony last Thursday evening. Francesca Bria, a member of the
initiative’s High-Level Roundtable, hosted the event.

The winners of the New European Bauhaus Prizes per category are:

1. Techniques, materials and processes for construction and design
Award: ERDEN PURE WALLS (Austria)
Rising Star: INHABITING AN ENCLOSED LANDSCAPE (Spain)

2. Buildings renovated in a spirit of circularity
Award: GARDENS IN THE AIR (Spain)
Rising Star: ZERO WASTE HOUSE (Slovenia)

3. Solutions for the co-evolution of built environment and nature
Award: ROSANA (Germany)
Rising Star: NEST (Spain)

4. Regenerated urban and rural spaces
Award: LA FÁBRIKA DE TODA LA VIDA (Spain)
Rising Star: PORTO DI MARE ECO-DISTRICT (Italy)

5. Products and life style
Award: AYR SUSTAINABILITY PLATFORM (Portugal)
Rising Star: MATERIEUNITE (Italy)

6. Preserved and transformed cultural heritage
Award: XIFRÉ‘S ROOFTOP: ‘FLOATING’ WILD GARDEN (Spain)
Rising Star: RETROFITTING THE UNESCO SITE OF IVREA (Italy)

7. Reinvented places to meet and share
Award: ULIA GARDEN (Spain)
Rising Star: SOCIAL RECONSTRUCTION IN POST-EMERGENCY (Italy)

8. Mobilisation of culture, arts and communities
Award: ESSERI URBANI (Italy)
Rising Star: SPACES TO RECONNECT CITIZENS WITH CITIES (Spain)

9. Modular, adaptable and mobile living solutions
Award: APROP CIUTAT VELLA (Spain)
Rising Star: HOMELESS HOUSING (Denmark)

10. Interdisciplinary education models
Award: DEGREE IN DESIGN UNIVERSIDAD DE NAVARRA (Spain)
Rising Star: KLASSE KLIMA (Germany)

The winners of the ‘New European Bauhaus Awards’ in each category will receive €30,000. For the ‘New European Bauhaus Rising Stars’ 10 prizes of €15,000 each are awarded to support concepts and ideas developed by young talents under 30 years of age.
