Jürgen Furchtlehner is Senior Lecturer and Research Associate at the Institute of Landscape Architecture at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences BOKU, Vienna, Austria.

He studied at BOKU Vienna and at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. He graduated in 2012 with a master’s diploma in Landscape Planning and Landscape Architecture. In his teaching he covers a range of classes for Bachelor- and Master level. In his research he focuses on the realm of urban public space, with a particular focus on streetscapes, parks, walkable neighbourhoods and active mobility. He has presented internationally and published on the topics of public space, urban streets, walkability, appropriation and greenspace justice. Currently he is writing his PhD on transformation of streetspaces as multifunctional and green public spaces.
