Multi functional protection system against floods (Category A)
The overall concept of the project came as a result of the extensive research on the potential aspect of open spaces in the design and construction of urban areas resilient to flooding. Relying on biomimicry, the focus of the research were natural models characterized as resilient to extreme changes in the environment. As a final solution the science of landscape ecology provided us with the suitable model - ECOTONE - whose main characteristics and the principle of functioning were used as a main guide for the design of resilient open spaces, adaptable to the future extreme flooding events.
